Slought is a non-profit organization on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania that engages publics in dialogue about cultural and socio-political change in Philadelphia, the world, and the cloud. Their aim is to build relationships and social trust through collaboration and the exchange of ideas. For over eighteen years, they have worked with artists, communities, and institutions worldwide to develop projects that encourage inclusiveness, advocacy, and the sharing of knowledge.

When the Department of Cinema & Media Studies agreed to cosponsor the Palestine Writes Literature Festival it was without knowledge of particular participants and should not be construed as an endorsement of their views. Our cosponsorship instead reflects the sense that the event’s engagement with various cinema and media falls within our new department’s academic mission, and it is to these portions of the programming that CIMS is contributing. We unequivocally condemn hate and remain committed to the dignity, representation and right to free expression of the entire Penn community.
