Apr 19, 2022 @ -

IN-PERSON @ 401 Fisher-Bennett Hall | Penn campus

Sneak preview of SONG OF SALT with Directors Emma Baiada and Nicolas Snyder in person.

The screening is open to Penn community only (not to the public).

Set in an isolated mining town on the outskirts of Death Valley, Song of Salt is an immersive glimpse into the struggles and celebrations within a tight-knit community as its residents, suspended between the past and the future, face the present realities of an eroding economy.

Emma Baiada is an observational filmmaker who is interested in the stories of those who exist on the fringes of mainstream society. Song of Salt is her first feature film. Her work has been supported by California Humanities, and her most recent short, Old Young, screened at the Slamdance Film Festival, Sun Valley Film Festival, Philadelphia Film Festival, Emergence LA, and more. Emma graduated from Penn in 2014 with a double major in Cinema & Media Studies and Communication, and a minor in Consumer Psychology.

Nicolas Snyder is a film composer, cinematographer, and sound artist. He has composed music for Netflix's Ugly Delicious, Showtime’s Shangri-La, FX’s Cake, Kristofski’s Skin, Michel Gondry's Fed-Ex spot Dreams. His most recent work as a cinematographer and composer, Old Young, premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in January 2020.
