A free admission film festival made possible thanks to the support of

Penn Cinema & Media Studies, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia, presents the 2018 edition of NEW ITALIAN CINEMA. The festival has been curated by Nicola M. Gentili and aims at showing very recent Italian released films in Philadelphia.

All movies in Italian with English subtitles.

5:30pm | Quanto basta (As Needed) | Francesco Falaschi, 2018, 92 min

When Arturo, a top chef with a troubled past, is released from prison, his main task is to restart his stalled career. But first he must complete community service at a training institute, imparting his professional wisdom to a gaggle of aspiring cooks with Asperger’s Syndrome, including the talented but demanding Guido.


8:3pm | Finché c'è prosecco c'è speranza (The Last Prosecco) Antonio Padovan, 2017, 101 min
The film follows Inspector Stucky investigating a series of murders and the theatrical suicide of Desiderio Ancillotto, a count who lives in the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, in a story that recounts the conflict between greed and respect for the land.

Mirko and Manolo are best friends and live in the suburbs of Rome. Together they share dreams of women, of sex and money, of a better life to come. After killing a man in a hit-and-run one night, they get involved with the local mafia and their lives change dramatically.

On a summer night, after 3 days of travel in the perilous waters of the Mediterranean, Bochra arrived on a Sicilian beach. It carried 130 people who once arrived soon escaped. Bochra was left alone. Until the tourists arrived.

The movie is a look at what we like to call the hall of Justice and it tells the chronicle of that day which brings common citizen in touch for the first time with the administration of Justice: men and women put by the case on the same benches.

An highly heterogeneous group of people go to Armenia to make a movie.
