Event
Join Penn's Theatre Arts Program for a performance of Samuel Beckett’s rarely seen short plays, including a screening of his one and only film (entitled Film), starring Buster Keaton. These extraordinary, tragicomic short plays – Footfalls, Rough for Theatre I, Come and Go and Catastrophe – are full of humor, darkness and humanity reduced to its essence. Join the Theatre Arts and the Cinema & Media Studies Programs for an unprecedented collaboration, as they engage Beckett’s legacy in two dimensions, live and onscreen.
Opening night will be followed by a reception and post-show discussion/Q&A with Timothy Corrigan from Penn’s Cinema & Media Studies Program, and Tina Brock, Artistic Director of the Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, a long-standing and heralded Philadelphia theatre company dedicated to absurdism.
