Take My Nose…Please! is a seriously funny look at the role comedy has played in exposing the pressures on women to be attractive, and society’s  desire/shame relationship with plastic surgery. Looking back at performers such as Fanny Brice, Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers, Roseanne Barr and Kathy Griffin, the film shows how comedians have been unashamed to talk about their  perceived flaws and the steps taken to remedy them. For these women, cosmetic surgery isn’t vanity, it’s affirmative action. While plastic surgery is a dark secret for most other high-profile women, comic performers speak honestly to women who feel the same pressures, giving them permission to pursue change (or not to) while entertaining us. The film follows two comedians—one a relative unknown improv performer, and the other, a seasoned standup and Broadway headliner—Jackie Hoffman—as they deliberate about going under the knife. Putting it all in perspective are  sociologists, anthropologists and cultural observers.  And for the profundity only comedians can supply, there are cameos by, among others, Julie Halston, Lisa Lampanelli, Judy Gold, Giulia Rozzi, and Adrianne Tolsch.
