FIVE NIGHTS IN MAINE

Maris Curran's feature film, FIVE NIGHTS IN MAINE starring David Oyelowo, Dianne Wiest and Rosie Perez world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and had its US premiere at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January. FIVE NIGHTS participated in IFP's No Borders, Film Independent’s Fast Track, Tribeca All Access, received a San Francisco Film Society KRF Grant, two Cinereach Grants, and a Panavision New Filmmaker Camera Grant. Maris uses film to delve into the drama of the everyday and to tell stories that take on challenging issues such as race, disability, illness and sexuality.

Maris received a BA from Smith College and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received a Princess Grace Award for her thesis film. Maris also participated in the Whitney Museum of American Art's Independent Study Program and was a Fulbright Fellow. She is currently in post-production on a documentary on artist and musician Lonnie Holley, and is packaging her second feature, SELENE, which will be shot in the San Francisco Bay Area.
