CIMS 2150 - Adapting and Producing Film

The course will examine the business of developing, adapting and producing films for the modern media landscape as consumer tastes evolve and distribution outlets change. Through the producers’ professional experience and reflection, students will get an inside look at the movie-making process from two contemporary creative producers who have operated from both inside and outside the studio system. The course will examine industry trends and provide a practical analysis of how best to navigate them, utilizing 30+ years of career experience as a framework for study. Classes will include industry speakers bringing their own perspective to the class discussions as well as in-depth case studies of a handful of their personal projects, from pitch to programming.
