Claudia Consolati teaches film history at the University of the Arts and at UPenn, where she received her PhD in 2014. Her research focuses on religion, gender, and transnationality in relation to film. Claudia is currently working on a book titled Sacred Madness: Women, Religion, and Folly in Postwar Italian Cinema, which focuses on the representation of female religious--and specifically Franciscan--madness in post-1945 Italian film. Claudia has already published a number of articles and book chapters on such diverse topics as 21st century Italian literature, Greta Garbo's star persona in Fitzmaurice's As You Desire Me (1932), and Roberto Rossellini's documentary India Matri Bhumi (1959).
