Cecilia Kryzda

Doctoral Student

Cecilia Kryzda is a doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania, where she studies how infrastructure, past mythologies, and future visions commingle. Current interests include the intellectual history of the “network” metaphor as well as speculative media across different cultural and historical contexts.

After earning her BA in Cinema and Media studies from Carleton College and her MA in Communication Studies (specializing in Media History and Culture) from the University of Iowa, Cecilia worked in Philadelphia at a communications firm and as a high school digital literacy teacher. She is excited to be part of the inaugural CIMS cohort at Penn!

Beyond her research, Cecilia can be found curled up with a good book, respectfully admiring a (preferably round) cat, and looking forward to her next food experience.
