"Live" Remote: Historicizing Local/National Television News
This talk will consider the rise of the local news remote as a historicized trope in the history of early U.S. television. A detailed study of the 1949 Kathy Fiscus telecast in Los Angeles will provide several important avenues of inquiry into this neglected topic, including its significance to inter-medial histories of the period.
