Ghost stories. A conversation about the negotiation of place and the memory of displacement.

Slought is pleased to announce "Ghost stories," a film screening and conversation on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 6:30-8pm exploring the politics of urban renewal and the relationship between place, memory and displacement. The event, which has been organized as Slought ponders its own future, will begin with Keg de Souza's documentary film If There's Something Strange In Your Neighborhood... (2014; 32 minutes, Indonesian and Javanese with English subtitles), and will be followed by a conversation featuring de Souza in dialogue with Rahul Mukherjee of Penn Cinema Studies.

Keg de Souza is an Australian artist working with mediums such as inflatable architecture, food, mapping and dialogical projects to explore the politics of space. This investigation of social and spatial environments is influenced by her formal training in architecture and experiences of radical spaces through squatting and organizing. Her work emphasizes participation and reciprocity, and often involves the process of learning new skills and fostering relationships to create site and situation-specific projects. Exhibitions include the 15th Jakarta Biennale and (2013) and Temporality in Architecture, Food and Communities, Delfina Foundation, London, England and Temporary Spaces, Edible Places, Atlas Arts, Isle of Skye, Scotland. She is an Australia Council for the Arts Creative Australia Fellow.

Rahul Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor in the Cinema Studies Program in the Department of English at the University of Pennsylvania. He researches mediations of contested publics formed around environmental debates and teaches courses related to media practices and technologies.
