The critically acclaimed television show The Wire has been heralded as an authentic look at the urban ills of Baltimore, and by extension other dying post-industrial cities. The shows creators have touted as cinema veritie at its best. By how realistic is the show? And does it truly diagnosis the real problems at the core of Baltimore's decline?

Join us for a conversation with former Baltimore city Homicide Detective Kelvin Sewell and award winning investigative reporter Stephen Janis. They co-authored a book called Why Do We Kill?  which examines the city's penchant for violence through the lens of real life homicide cases.
