"Is it Because I'm a Girl," directed by Peter Decherney with a crew of Penn students, which premiered at the Miami Film Festival in April, has won Best Documentary at the Venice Shorts Festival! Congratulations to Professor Decherney! The film will have it's west coast premier at Dances with Films on June 26th. The sixteen-minute film tells the story of Nao.G, the first South Sudanese woman to perform hip-hop music, dance, and poetry in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, where she has started an all-female dance troupe. Additionally, "Echoes of Home," produced by Peter Decherney, also with a crew of Penn students, will have its world premiere at the Palm Springs ShortsFest on June 22nd!
