When the Department of Cinema & Media Studies agreed to cosponsor the Palestine Writes Literature Festival it was without knowledge of particular participants and should not be construed as an endorsement of their views. Our co-sponsorship instead reflects the sense that the event’s engagement with various cinema and media falls within our new department’s academic mission, and it is to these portions of the programming that CIMS is contributing. We unequivocally condemn hate and remain committed to the dignity, representation and right to free expression of the entire Penn community.
