Christopher Donovan

Lecturer in Cinema Studies

Christopher Donovan (he/his) is Assistant Director of Advising Services and Academic Support for the College of Arts and Sciences. A Penn alum (’92), he received his PhD in Contemporary American Literature from New York University in 1998 and has taught at Penn in the departments of Cinema and Media Studies and English since 2000. Before joining the staff of the College, he spent two decades as the House Dean of Gregory College House, where he founded the Film Culture Program community. He is the author of Postmodern Counternarratives: Irony and Audience in the Novels of Paul Auster, Don DeLillo, Charles Johnson and Tim O'Brien, and his courses have included Science Fiction Cinema, the Coen Brothers, and Film Criticism.
