CINE 507 - Ethnographic Film

ANTH 510 | COMM 507
401 | W 2-6pm | ANNS 108

This course requires that students put theory into practice by crafting a short ethnographic film. In service to that goal, students will read about ethnography (as a method and representational genre), watch weekly non-fiction films (to be analyzed for formal properties and implicit assumptions about culture/ sociality), and acquire training in the basics of digital video production. Students will then be asked (as a group) to conceptualize an ethnographic film project, an ethnographic film that will be shot and edited over the course of the semester.
