In occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which occurred on Saturday, January 27 2018, commemorating the tragedy of the Holocaust, the Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania Center for Italian Studies and Cinema and Media Studies wish to honor the Remembrance Day with the screenings of:

My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes | Oren Jacoby, 2014, 1h 32min
My Italian Secret tells the story of sports idol Gino Bartali and other courageous Italians who carried out ingenious schemes to rescue Jews, partisans and refugees from Nazi-occupied Italy.

'43 - 97' | Ettore Scola, 1997, 9min
Scola opens his film with a B&W re-enactment of the Nazi round-up of the Jews of Rome, on October 16th, 1943, and their herding into trucks for deportation to Auschwitz. A young boy escapes capture by finding refuge in a cinema... Scola then switches to the present and to colour. We see the young boy as an old man in the same seat in the cinema, and hear sounds of someone running into the cinema and panting, behind him...
