Still from Shaun Kadlec and Deb Tullmann's Born This Way, 2013

Screening Social Justice Series. A film screening about the struggle for social equality in Cameroon.

Slought and Penn Social Policy & Practice are pleased to announce a screening of Born This Way (2013). The film, directed by Shaun Kadlec and Deb Tullmann, provides a portrait of the underground gay and lesbian community in Cameroon. It follows Cedric and Gertrude, two young Cameroonians, as they move between a secret, supportive LGBT community and an outside culture that, though intensely homophobic, is in transition toward greater acceptance.
