Screening of CHILDREN PLAYING GODS

Irfana Majumdar, 2007, 1 hour, India

During the festival of Ramlila, the streets of Varanasi, India, are transformed into dramatic theatrical stages. Hindu deities manifest themselves in local children, who then act out the great epic of Rama. This film is about the lives of Ramlila child-actors in Banaras and the audiences who enjoy their "play" (lila) and seek their blessings.

Followed by discussion with fillmmaker Irfana Majumdar
